The Future of Science

Christ Jesus prophesied the future of the Christianity he taught. He saw great disturbance ahead as his nation would suffer for its failure to keep the ideals of Moses and the prophets or to accept his own revelation of the pure nature of God and man. He said, "Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled." Matt. 24:34; Jerusalem was destroyed under the heel of Rome, and the Jews were scattered over the earth.

The Saviour's prophecy continued: "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only." Jesus' teachings of the love and mercy and justice of God are still at work transforming the world. Christian Science is clarifying them and making their power to heal available again.

The passing away of the material sense of existence, that sense which is contrary to Spirit's creation and utterly false, can come only through the action of divine law. No one can prophesy the time it will take for the evil sense to be fully proved nonexistent as Christian Science reveals it to be. God's law alone can work out the answer. His law, the force of His will, operates in human consciousness only in the measure that mankind submit to it and prove its constant, governing power.
