"My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my...
"My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever" (Ps. 73:26). I can testify that this proved to be true in my case.
During the hay season on our alfalfa ranch, I assisted with the irrigating on one field while the hay work progressed on another section of the ranch. One afternoon when I had just completed a water change and turned to go home, I was seized with severe chest pains. Breathing became difficult; and although there was extreme fear, I found myself saying, "Dear Father, God, help me." I tried to pray, and the following words from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy came to me (p. 495): "When the illusion of sickness or sin tempts you, cling steadfastly to God and His idea."
Slowly I was able to climb into our pick-up truck and drive to the house. My mother met me at the door, and I barely whispered to her to call a Christian Science practitioner. For several minutes I remained standing, unable to sit or lie down. I never doubted for a moment that the healing power of divine Truth was ever present to help me. In less than half an hour breathing became normal, the pain and fear disappeared, and I was able to lie down on the sofa. A short time later I arose and prepared our evening meal. This healing took place eleven years ago and has been permanent.
The teachings of Christian Science have blessed me and my family over a long period of time through healings of physical and moral problems, improved living conditions, and the overcoming of lack and limitation. My joy for living has increased, and I have a greater appreciation of the vast work, consecration, and purity of the Discoverer of this Science, Mrs. Eddy, in founding the Christian Science movement.
I am grateful to God for His Son, Christ Jesus, and for his marvelous healing works and teachings. Membership in The Mother Church, active participation in branch church work, and the inspiring experience of class instruction are my most precious possessions.

I would like to verify the above healing of my daughter. I was visiting at her ranch at that time. I was standing at the door as she approached the house, and the picture was frightening. I am grateful that I was present and able to telephone a practitioner.
I too have received many healings in Christian Science, several of which were instantaneous. My love and gratitude for the healing Christ, as taught in Christian Science, is unbounded. Now, past fourscore and ten years, I am thankful to attend church services regularly and to be able to live alone and do most of my own work. Membership in The Mother Church and a branch church provides daily inspiration.
