A beautiful baby and immediate return to caring for my family...
A beautiful baby and immediate return to caring for my family after childbirth were the results of steadfastly relying upon God. These proofs of God's loving and perfect care were evidenced in our home even in the face of a medical diagnosis that was alarming.
We were new residents in a community when I was expecting our third child. I sought to engage a physician who would render his services in the home when the baby was due to arrive. On a periodic visit I made to his office, he told me there was evidence of a "killer disease," and he urged me to subscribe to a medical remedy immediately. As students of Christian Science we had relied upon God as our only physician and healer for a number of years. Now was not the time to turn from Him but rather more fully to Him in order to destroy the fears connected with the doctor's diagnosis.
Mrs. Eddy tells us in Science and Health (p. 297): "Erroneous belief is destroyed by truth. Change the evidence, and that disappears which before seemed real to this false belief, and the human consciousness rises higher." My husband and I kindly dismissed the physician, and a Christian Science practitioner took up the work. Much study of the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's works brought forth the courage to destroy the fear of death.
In our prayerful work we were led to contact another physician who was willing to be present in the home at the time of the baby's arrival. The physician's presence had been sought for the purpose of being obedient to the law of the land.
Arrangements to have a Christian Science nurse with us had been made well in advance. Then, two weeks prior to the anticipated date, the thought came to me clearly that the fulfillment of this experience was not dependent upon person but was wholly dependent upon God. With a sweet and sure sense of peace, I retired only to be awakened within a few hours realizing that the time was at hand.
When we contacted the Christian Science nurse, we learned that she was attending another Christian Science mother and baby in their home a great distance away. However, we were able to contact the only Christian Science nurse in the state where we were residing. This was truly Mind's directing, for she was not listed in The Christian Science Journal, having just moved to the state. She resided in a city some fifty miles away, and the baby awaited her arrival.
Also, the physician was available at the right moment for the completely natural and harmonious birth. As he left our home to depart within an hour to a distant city for a business conference of several days, the physician remarked, "You Christian Scientists should print more of your pamphlets for others." We were grateful for his kindness and cooperation. There was no evidence of the disease which had been diagnosed earlier in my case, nor any abnormality in the baby.
Words cannot fully express my gratitude for the practitioner's prayers throughout this experience. For the understanding to go forward and trust in God unswervingly, I humbly thank our heavenly Father-Mother God. The blessings of membership in The Mother Church and a branch church and of class instruction are beyond measure.

I am humbly grateful to confirm my wife's testimony. Joy and dominion have been ours through the application of Christian Science in our home. I too am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church and for class instruction.
