It was through the healing of my grandmother many years ago that our family came into Christian Science. Physicians had given her only a short time to live, when a kind neighbor took a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy to her home. Through the prayers of a Christian Science practitioner she was restored to health and enjoyed many active years. Later my mother had class instruction in Christian Science; and through her understanding and loving ministrations she dispelled childish fears and minor ills for my sister and me.

When I left Sunday School at twenty years of age, the teacher gave me this statement by Mrs. Eddy and asked me to remember it always: "The Christlike understanding of scientific being and divine healing includes a perfect Principle and idea,—perfect God and perfect man,—as the basis of thought and demonstration" (ibid., p. 259). Many instantaneous healings have resulted from the realization of this truth.

Some time ago I lost the use of my legs, and asked a practitioner for treatment, which was faithfully given. She reminded me that there is no opposing power to hinder or stop our action or progress as God, the only power, is ever operating. This healing took place in less than a week.

Through the prayerful help of a practitioner, pain and inaction in my arm were quickly healed and normal action restored. During this time I was comforted by the verse in Psalms (89:13), "Thou hast a mighty arm: strong is thy hand, and high is thy right hand."

I am ever thankful for the daily unfoldment of the teachings of our Way-shower, Christ Jesus, for the priceless gift of the textbook, Science and Health, for the daily study of the Bible Lessons, for class instruction, and for membership in The Mother Church and a Christian Science Society.
