During an air flight over the Pacific Ocean I was able to prove the healing power of Christian Science.

My family and I had been on a vacation outside the United States. The city we were visiting had a beautiful Christian Science church. Some friends invited us to the services there, where I was awakened to the beauty and holiness of a pure and satisfying religion. The truth of what was read from the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy turned my thought to higher concepts of myself and those about me. The Wednesday testimony meetings brought more thorough convictions of the ideas presented. Many in the congregation gave testimonies, sharing joyous and understandable experiences and healings in Christian Science. The humble gratitude to God and the sincerity expressed, many times in broken English, touched my heart, and I resolved to study Christian Science. The textbook, Science and Health, together with the King James Version of the Bible, were obtained at a local Reading Room. I read and studied about two weeks before the trip home.

When we left and had been airborne about an hour of the eight-hour trip, I felt the symptoms of airsickness. I had been sick in the air and at sea many times before, but this time I turned my thought to what I had been reading and learning about Christian Science and tried to understand more fully Mrs. Eddy's definition of "Christ" given in Science and Health (p. 583): "The divine manifestation of God, which comes to the flesh to destroy incarnate error." I became impressed with what the presence of the Christ really meant to me, and I completely forgot the airsickness. It just left and to this day has never returned.

During the first two weeks of my study of Science and Health, the habit of cigarette smoking became offensive to me. I found that I could not read the textbook and smoke. The desire to smoke left and has never returned.

Once a person is healed by Christian Science he can never really accept any other method. The fact of a spiritual healing can never be rationalized or disputed by so-called mortal intelligence.

Many wonderful healings and signs of God's presence and power have appeared in my experience and in that of my family since that time of healing while flying over the ocean. I am grateful to God for Mrs. Eddy and for her discovery, Christian Science.
