It is with praise to God, our Father-Mother, and gratitude for Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and for Mrs. Eddy that I am writing this testimony. During the past twenty-five years or more I have been proving the power of prayer as taught in Christian Science.
My first healing was that of an abscessed tooth, and it was brought about through my own study of the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. This book had been loaned to me, by a relative after the passing of a loved one during the year 1936. Since then I have experienced many healings, such as that of migraine which had recurred over a period of years. This healing was brought about through a conversation with a practitioner, during which I gained a clear sense of the infinite nature of God.
I had suffered from rheumatism since childhood. At the time of which I'm writing, I was employed. A friend and I decided to spend the Fourth of July holiday at the seashore. The morning we were to leave I felt a great deal of pain in one of my knees. I did the driving; and as we continued with our plans, I was knowing that God was right there with me, guiding me. My friend was not a Christian Scientist, but from time to time we sang various hymns we both were familiar with, until we reached our destination.
As we left the car and proceeded to climb the steps in front of the hotel, my friend could see that I was in quite a bit of pain and that the knee had swollen considerably. I spent the remainder of that day studying the current Lesson-Sermon outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly.
The next day the condition did not improve, and my friend recommended that I call a Christian Science practitioner for help. This I did and continued to work and pray as the practitioner instructed me. That evening I was able to leave the hotel for a short walk on the boardwalk. On the third day we were to leave for our drive back home of approximately one hundred and forty miles. While driving, I felt a great sense of freedom in my knee; the pain had almost completely subsided. The next day I was able to be at my place of business and to do my day's work, which involved a great deal of walking. From that time there has been no return of the rheumatism.
Christian Science is the way. Through this way I have come to know God as the healer of all my sicknesses, as well as the giver of all good.
I am especially grateful for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, for class instruction, and for attendance at the yearly association meeting.
