I shall always be grateful that my mother took up the study of Christian Science when I was a child and enrolled me in the Sunday School. From that time on, I had few of the so-called childhood illnesses, and those that appeared were quickly healed through Christian Science treatment. Since that time, the knowledge of God's omnipotence and omnipresence has been a source of strength and courage to meet the human need.

My husband and I had attended the Sunday School of a branch church together, so it was natural for us to join that church at an early age and to take part in its activities, which have brought many blessings into our experience and have established our home on a firm foundation. Our two daughters had the privilege of attending the Sunday School from the earliest possible age and have had many evidences of protection and healing.

When our younger daughter was just over a year old, a lump appeared on the back of her neck. One night her condition became alarming, and I called a practitioner. Her comforting assurance of the love of our Father-Mother God brought a sense of calmness, and the child was able to sleep. From then on, the lump caused no more trouble, diminished, and, within a short time, completely disappeared.

Our older daughter was healed of enlarged tonsils, and at the same time she was healed of measles. Later, she didn't miss a day of school for over seven years. While a college student, she had measles again; and she was healed in less than twenty-four hours by knowing that this illness had been completely eradicated by Truth and had no power to return.

Sometime later a condition appeared on her face that was disfiguring and caused discomfort. The girls in her sorority house, knowing that she was a Christian Scientist, were considerate, but finally told the house president that they recognized the condition as impetigo, which they considered highly contagious.

When our daughter telephoned this information to us, we called a practitioner, who immediately allayed our fears. She said that our daughter must he obedient to the laws of the state and the college. These required an examination by the resident physician. Upon looking up the word "impetigo" in the dictionary, it was found to stem from the Latin word impetere which means "to attack."I realized that the Truth for which our daughter stood was not under attack.

The following day she obediently went to the physician, who told her that whatever the disease had been, it was on the way to being healed; and she did not have to be confined. No one else in her sorority house was affected. Within several weeks, her face was as smooth as it ever had been, a certain proof of the completeness of Christian Science treatment.

We have used our understanding of God's perfect direction of man in finding a house and in establishing a business that has met every need. Several years ago while my husband and I were driving with our younger daughter and a friend at the maximum speed on a highway, a car in the right lane turned immediately in front of us with no warning.

As we forcefully hit the other car, we audibly declared the truth that "under divine Providence there can be no accidents, since there is no room for imperfection in perfection" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 424). Although the entire front of our car was crushed together from the impact, not one of us, not even the man in the other car, was hurt in the slightest.

Class instruction has been a beacon in my experience. I am humbly grateful for Mrs. Eddy's discovery of the key which unlocks the Bible and illumines the teachings of Christ Jesus. It is my daily prayer to be obedient to this instruction of Mrs. Eddy (Manual of The Mother Church, Art. VIII, Sect. 6): "It shall be the duty of every member of this Church to defend himself daily against aggressive mental suggestion, and not be made to forget nor to neglect his duty to God, to his Leader, and to mankind."
