I am grateful for God, for Christ...

I am grateful for God, for Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and for our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy.

Some sixty years ago I had the misfortune to sever the main ligament of my foot. My father took me to many doctors, and they all told him that I would always have to wear a brace in my shoe, which I did until several years ago. Without it I was not able to walk any distance.

After I began to study Christian Science I heard a testimony of a healing of a condition similar to mine; so I got busy. I denied vigorously that man can ever be in an accident. Man's support is the divine Mind.

I held to Paul's words (Phil. 4:13), "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." This truth strengthened me, and I knew that the Christ, Truth, would do for me what it did for Jesus in the measure that I understood it. I was helped in making this demonstration of mental surgery by the account of Jesus' restoration of the servant's ear after one of his disciples had cut it off (see Luke 22:50, 51).

I also held to these words of Mrs. Eddy (Science and Health, P.209): "Spiritual sense is a conscious, constant capacity to understand God." And I tried to demonstrate man's constant unity with Mind. I then threw away my brace and had an instantaneous healing. Now I can walk miles without any difficulty.

I am deeply grateful for the moral and spiritual uplift I gained from this healing. My prayer is that I shall be able to help others through the truth.—Erwin F. Schwartzburg, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
