A College Student Writes

Thought-models and Academic Achievement

Christian Science shows that one's experience is the expression of the thoughts which one holds. When the student at any educational institution perceives the implications of this truth, he is stirred to the apprehension of a new and revolutionary concept of achievement in his studies.

Mortal mind claims that it controls the body and its entire action; but Christian Science brings to mankind the great revelation that God, good, is the only real Mind. This perfect Mind is infinite and hence has no opposite. Therefore mortal mind is no mind at all but merely a false belief or lie concerning God, the real Mind of man. He who accepts these ideas sees his lifework as the demonstration of the one Mind and the concomitant denial of the claims of mortal mind.

Stirred by Truth, mortal mind begins at once to see something of the falsity of its own position and gradually gives place to the divine Mind. This gradual change in human consciousness is effected by a sincere effort on the part of the individual to examine his thoughts and motives and to reject as untrue all that suggests that man has fallen from his original stature as the perfect reflection of Mind. As the omnipresence of God fills his thought, animal magnetism, or material sense, begins to lose its claim to reality.
