For God's ever-presence and...
For God's ever-presence and everlasting care, I am truly thankful. For Christ Jesus, for our revered Leader, for the Church of Christ, Scientist, and for Mrs. Eddy's guidance in our demonstration of man's eternal freedom, I am continually grateful.
Sometime ago I found myself in a very strange position. I discovered that I would have to accompany another person, of higher position, on a business trip into the interior of India. I also found out that this person intended to violate the laws of both India and the United States by taking arms in the car and hunting from it on the way back.
In trying to solve this problem by human will, I brought down wrath upon my head and a violent argument followed. During a rather fitful, sleepless night in which fear in many forms ran rampant, I was suddenly seized with violent pain and a fear of passing on. As mental darkness closed in, the only words I could recall were these (I John 4:16): "God is love." With the morning's sun I awoke to a lack of mobility accompanied by intense pain, but also with a reassuring consciousness that I still lived and that God was with me.
The family called upon a Scientist friend who came to quiet their fears and who sent a cable to a practitioner, since my wife is not a Christian Scientist. Shortly the pain left, and a glowing consciousness of God's love came over my being. Peaceful sleep followed.
Improvement was steady, and progress was made with each day's study, until by the end of the week I was up. At the end of the second week, I was again back on the job, completely whole, healed both of the physical difficulty and my prejudiced criticism. The business situation resolved itself. I was not required to make the trip, primarily because I was incapacitated at the time. However, overnight the other person had a change of heart to the extent that he made the trip, leaving his guns and other equipment behind.
I am grateful to God for the Christ, for the quick, effective work of the practitioner, and for the opportunity to demonstrate again that the healing, protecting power of Christian Science is truly infinite.—Kenneth C. Jasper, Huntington, Indiana.
