With joy I can testify to the...
With joy I can testify to the healing power of God's Word. As a young girl, I began the study of the Bible in earnest. When f heard of the passing on of Mary Baker Eddy, I went to my pastor and inquired of him about Christian Science. His answer was that Christian Scientists believe that the things visible to our eyes are illusions, not real, not spiritual. I pondered this statement and another that I had memorized as a child (Phil. 2:5), "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus."
Not understanding these statements, I went on studying the Bible and did not take up the study of Science until after I was married and had a child. A paralyzed nerve in my leg was then healed in a few weeks through my study of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and the help of a practitioner.
After this wonderful healing, for which I was very grateful, I began to attend a branch church and to study Science earnestly. From that time to the present, I have had many healings by relying on my understanding of God, which I gained through Mrs. Eddy's revelation of His Word. A condition of housemaid's knee was healed when I turned to God and realized the truth.
Some years ago a daughter who had a physical condition which had been diagnosed as vascular tumors covering the soles of her feet and who had tried every known treatment, at last gave up all medication, I asked her permission to do some prayerful work for her if she would help by studying as she had been taught in the Christian Science Sunday School.
After a few weeks another problem of an emotional nature arose in her experience, and in our study we took account of it too. One morning I happened to glance down at her feet; to our joy the condition had been healed, and there was not even a scar. The condition has never returned. The emotional problem was solved after several more months of studying.
I have had the privilege of class instruction and could go on and on enumerating healings. My desire is to grow out of all belief in matter and to lean entirely on God and the truth. The Bible, the textbook, and the periodicals are my constant companions. I am grateful for the privilege of membership in The Mother Church as well as a branch church. I am grateful to God for Christ Jesus and for Mrs. Eddy and her wonderful discover) of Christian Science. —(Mrs.) Elsie Wolf, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
