Gladness to leave the false...

"Gladness to leave the false landmarks and joy to see them disappear,—this disposition helps to precipitate the ultimate harmony" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 324).

Years ago I found the above message a practical guide to a new way of life. Because of acute alcoholism t had been asked to resign from the position I had held for years. After a year of medical treatment had brought no relief, I was in despair. When

I was in a humble enough frame of mind, a friend recommended that I turn to Christian Science for help. She gave me a copy of its textbook. As I read the book I began to get a glimpse of my real selfhood as a child of God.

It was not long before I felt sufficiently healed to return to the business world. So I went to see a Christian Science practitioner. Through his splendid prayerful help something so wonderful unfolded that it was hard for me to grasp it at the time. A friend who had decided to join a large textile firm made it possible for me to take over his old office space and the companies he had represented.

Every detail needed to carry on the business was provided, and he said that I could pay for the display equipment at my convenience. My friend knew that I had been healed of the alcohol habit, and he said to me, "You have not only the best thing there is to help you but the only thing there is—Christian Science."

Later I joined The Mother Church and a branch church and had class instruction. Church activity has been to me the most important means of showing my gratitude to God for Mrs. Eddy and her priceless gift of Christian Science. In the intervening years my every need has been met when I have applied this Science rightly, and my gratitude knows no bounds.—Charles E. Stuart, Los Angeles, California.
