My healing of poliomyelitis, measles, and pneumonia, suffered simultaneously when I was a young child, was the means of bringing our family into Christian Science. It was an instantaneous healing. One moment I was in a coma, and the next I was awake and asking for a drink of water. This healing took place through the work done by a Christian Science practitioner, who prayed for me.

Now, some thirty years later, I am an earnest student of Christian Science, grateful to God for the unlimited blessings I have had through the study and application of the truths contained in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.

At an early age I had the privilege of class instruction, which gave me a solid foundation in Christian Science. After my marriage, the problems which presented themselves became more difficult and subtle; but each one was solved quickly with a greater degree of understanding resulting. I was healed of a very severe sinus condition by being more obedient and putting first things first.

Our first child passed on almost immediately after birth. I was healed of complications due to the difficult and protracted birth as well as of grief. This loss of a child brought about much mental searching which led to the uncovering of many false traits of character. These were replaced by more love and compassion. Selfishness was healed to some degree, and other graces of Spirit became visible. An unloving attitude toward my mother was healed.

My husband, who was not a student of Christian Science at the time of our marriage, has become interested in it and has had many beautiful healings. One which I think was outstanding I should like to relate. He had been suffering from kidney stones for several years and was finally forced to have a doctor administer a drug to quiet the pain; but after several severe attacks the doctor insisted that an operation was necessary.

At this point my husband took his stand for Christian Science, and a practitioner was called. For three weeks the healing process went on, bringing gradual freedom from fear and an awakening from the dream of life in matter. My husband was completely healed.

After he returned to work he was excused from a physical examination; and when he presented a statement from the practitioner, telling what her work had accomplished, it was honored by the company doctor, and employment compensation was granted. This was the first time in the history of the insurance company for which my husband worked that a Christian Science practitioner's statement had been so honored.

My husband, an organist in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, missed only one service during this time. Our son, who was eight years old, was unaware that anything unusual was going on. I was so beautifully sustained through this experience that at no time was I fatigued although I never had more than three or four hours' sleep at night.

This was a turning point in my husband's life. Many other false beliefs dropped away, and he became a sincere student of Christian Science.

We have had many healings in our family in the past twenty-three years through the application of the rules of Christian Science. Broken bones have healed quickly, and chronic headaches, athlete's foot, measles, and chicken pox have been completely wiped out. A severely injured toe was healed and improved personal relationships experienced. Through holding to the fact that God is always present to heal and save, I was protected in an automobile accident.

I am so grateful to God for our Way-shower, Christ Jesus, and for our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, that the written word is inadequate to express my gratitude. Being a witness to Truth in my daily life is my only way of repaying my debt to God. Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health (p. 326), "We must forsake the foundation of material systems, however time-honored, if we would gain the Christ as our only Saviour."
