A little more grace, a motive made pure, a few truths tenderly told, a heart softened, a character subdued, a life consecrated, would restore the right action of the mental mechanism, and make manifest the movement of body and soul in accord with God" (Miscellaneous Writings by Mrs. Eddy, p. 354). This has been my trust, and through the years its truth has been made evident in my experience. Every part of my life has been blessed by Christian Science.

This religion was introduced to me by a young man whom I later married. Through the patience and understanding expressed by him and his family, I was healed of the smoking habit. False traits of character have been replaced by a greater sense of my true being as a child of God. I was so temperamental and sad that my mother once said she longed to see me smile. Now all my days are joyous ones, filled with love and a sense of well-being and contentment. Painful memories of an unhappy childhood and of past events were wiped out when I realized that the past is of no value at all except for the lessons learned.

Many physical healings have enriched my life, for each one has demanded more consecrated thought Spiritward, thus bringing me closer to God. One night I suddenly awoke very ill with food poisoning. A practitioner was called. My husband read to me constantly for a few hours from Mrs. Eddy's writings, because I wanted to hear only the truth. During moments of consciousness I was confident that Christian Science treatment was equal to this demand, and I never doubted its power to heal. Soon the effects of the illness ceased; and I was so aware of the presence of the Christ that peace and calm enfolded me, and I fell asleep. The next morning I was on duty as librarian in a Christian Science Reading Room.

Another time a light stroke almost entirely paralyzed my body, but this condition was healed instantaneously when a practitioner declared emphatically, "Fear never stopped being and its action" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 151). I immediately arose and walked normally with no aftereffects.

A healing of heart trouble came slowly, over a period of about a year and a half; but during this time I learned to persevere with the truth I knew of man's God-given dominion. I realized that every statement of truth Mrs. Eddy has given us is charged with spiritual power, that strength is not physical but a quality of God reflected and expressed by man.

I attempted to carry on my normal activity as best I could, and no one knew of the difficulty except my husband and the practitioner who helped me through prayer almost constantly during this time. I learned a deeper meaning of activity. I learned that God is all-acting and that the action of Mind is perfect, without blemish or deformity. Soon I had tremendous energy. I could run up steps, swim, play golf, and do all my own housework and gardening, freely. This was a time of spiritual growth, for which I thank God.

I have been healed of an eye condition for which I had been told I would always need to wear glasses; and healings of sinus trouble, neuritis, severe sunburn, depression, depraved appetites, and lack have also come to me through this practical Science. With them have come a deep love for the Cause of Christian Science and a desire to do my part in its great work.

I am humbly grateful for all the good that God has given me, for the dear and faithful practitioners who have helped me in the journey from sense to Soul, and for the priceless privilege of class instruction, which gave me the spiritual tools with which to help myself and others.—(Mrs.) Marceline Martin, Fort Worth, Texas.
