It is with deep gratitude that I offer this testimony to the healing power of God in Christian Science. I never cease to be grateful for the patience and love expressed by my dear friends while they were waiting for me to accept Science for the healing of our son.

Our elder boy was ten years old when he was afflicted with St. Vitus's dance. We were told that he could be healed in Christian Science, but I was afraid to try it. Five years later the lad contracted rheumatic fever, and he also had a serious heart defect. After treating him for a long period of time, the doctors said they believed there was no hope for him.

At this point our son and I decided to try Christian Science; so a practitioner was called. We threw away all medicines, and the lad relied entirely on Science. He was enrolled in a Christian Science Sunday School, and immediately there was improvement. In a short time he was swimming and praticipating in all kinds of sports, as he had always wanted to do. He cooperated well with the practitioner, and in three months he was completely healed. He later served his country in the infantry for two years and is now a happy family man.

Although I had seen this beautiful healing take place, I did not accept Christian Science for fourteen years because I did not seem to be able to understand it. During this time, however, I told others that Science could heal them. I always loved the religion because it was based on Love.

When our younger son was five years old, he started to attend school, and we were told that he was mentally retarded. The boy was taken to doctors and psychiatrists for help. It was suggested that we put him in a school for retarded children, but my husband refused to do so. When I asked the principal of the school if there was someone who could help the lad with his studies, we were told that the boy could not learn and that we should keep him at home and help him as much as we could.

We sold the farm on which we were living and moved to the city. The lad was enrolled in a public school there. He was examined by another psychiatrist, and we were told the boy had been hurt at birth. He was very nervous and also had a skin infection.

When Christian Science was offered again, we turned to it for healing. A practitioner was called, and prayerful work was taken up. I studied certain relevant passages from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, to which the practitioner referred me.

In a short time the nervousness had disappeared, as had the skin trouble. The complete healing took longer, but he was eventually healed and attended regular classes in school with children his own age.

This testimony is given with the sincere desire that it will help someone along the way, for all can be healed through Christian Science.

Through our better understanding of God, our lives have been made worth living. I am grateful to God for all His goodness, for Christ Jesus, and for Mrs. Eddy. We have had many healings, some by just the reading of the textbook. My husband and I are members of The Mother Church and a branch church. I am deeply grateful for class instruction.
