From a heart overflowing with gratitude for Christian Science and for all the good that has come into my life through its study and application, I submit this testimony with the sincere desire that it may help others.

My daughter and I have had many physical healings and other proofs of God's loving care, but there are two experiences that stand out to me.

On returning home one evening from church committee work, I stopped to pick up my five-year-old daughter. The woman who had been keeping her met me at the door and asked if my daughter had ever had the mumps. I told her that she had not. But to all appearances she did have them now. I told the woman not to be afraid, that everything would be all right. I then took my daughter to our apartment upstairs and sat down with her. From the first moment, I had been silently knowing that God was taking care of her always and that no harm could come to His child.

I took Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and it opened at page 393, where I read, "Have no fear that matter can ache, swell, and be inflamed as the result of a law of any kind, when it is self-evident that matter can have no pain nor inflammation." I turned to my daughter and saw that she was healed. Where the evidence of mumps had been one minute, the child was free, and her face was completely normal the next minute.

Later, in looking up this reference in the Concordance to Science and Health, I found that this is the only time Mrs. Eddy uses the word "swell"' in Science and Health.

This daughter is now fourteen and has had a harmonious life, almost completely free from so-called childhood diseases. Any that were manifested were quickly healed through the application of Christian Science.

When my beloved mother passed on, I was healed of grief through the help of my teacher in Christian Science.

One evening I was seized with severe pain in my side, and the fear of appendicitis was great. I asked myself why I was so afraid. These three words came to my thought—rupture, pain, and convalescence. I looked up the meaning of "rupture"' and found one definition to be "a breach of harmony or friendly relations between two persons or parties."

I saw that what I really needed to overcome were a tendency to lose my temper and an inability to get along with others. I also found that the word "pain" was derived from the Latin word for "penalty." I reasoned that I was in reality the perfect child of God and had never done anything that I needed to pay a penalty for. I also realized that I was perfect right now and that this perfection did not take any length of time to be manifested. To my joy I realized that the pain was completely gone.

Since this time my relations with others and my disposition have been improving. This and subsequent healings have proved to me that a physical healing in Christian Science does make us better morally.

The way has not always been easy, and I have had many false traits of character to overcome, but I am grateful for every experience. When the truth of Christian Science has been earnestly and honestly applied, I have never failed to receive healing.

My testimony would not be complete without expressing gratitude for class instruction and for the yearly association meeting. I count among my greatest blessings membership in The Mother Church and in a Christian Science Society and the privilege of having had Christian Science all my life.
