"The hearing ear, and the seeing...

The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the Lord hath made even both of them" (Prov. 20:12). The truth of these words was revealed to me some months ago. My sincere gratitude for Christian Science and my desire to be of help to others impel me to write this testimony.

My hearing became so badly impaired that I could not hear at all. My husband wanted me to consult an ear specialist, for he said I could not go on with my hearing in that condition. However, I very much wanted to be faithful to Christian Science; so I prayed earnestly to God that my eyes might be opened to see His perfect creation.

I am employed and am obliged to talk to a great many people; so I learned quickly to read their lips. But I could not use the telephone, and I did not notice when I was spoken to or called.

The practitioner to whom I spoke of this affliction explained that true hearing has nothing to do with the organism, the ear. True hearing is a spiritual faculty of divine Mind. He continued to lead me in the way of Truth until I was certain that God meets all my needs, I gladly devoted myself to listening for God's voice; He had so much to say to me that I often forgot that I could not hear physically. I attended church services and carried out my duties as an usher.

During a Wednesday evening testimony meeting I heard—imagine my hearing these words!— read from the desk: "The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the Lord hath made even both of them." A sense of great happiness flooded my consciousness, and my hearing became normal again and has remained so. Filled with gratitude, my thoughts went out to God, to Christ Jesus, and to our Leader, who so selflessly gave us Christian Science.—(Mrs.) Marie Bandomir, Hanstedt, Kreis Harburg, Germany.
