Many years ago friends of our family told us of Christian Science, but I was not ready to accept it then. At that time I was a pupil in high school, and one of my friends had given me a magazine that contained an article derogatory to the life of Mary-Baker Eddy, which prejudiced me against her.

For several years I suffered from neuralgia, and one winter I had a very painful abscess in one ear. Then I asked for help from one of the friends who had spoken to us of Christian Science. After one treatment by prayer the abscess drained, and the neuralgia disappeared with it. That was over fifty years ago, and I have not had neuralgia or an abscess again.

However, I still did not take up the study of Christian Science until some years later when I was down and out. Then I read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy in earnest, and solely through reading the book I was healed of cancer and some other ailments, I realized that I had been looking all my life for what I was reading. As I continued to read and study the writings of Mrs. Eddy, I began to recognize her greatness and what it must have meant to her to give Christian Science, the Science Christ Jesus demonstrated, to the world. I herewith express my profound gratitude and love for and appreciation of her and her lifework.

Through the years since then, I have been able to solve most of the problems that have come to me, and I am truly grateful for the correction and protection Christian Science is affording me. As I cease to judge, criticize, and condemn, I am progressing spiritually. My mother began to study Christian Science before I did. When she was seventy-two years old, she had an illness from which her own mother had passed on when she was seventy-two. One morning she was quite ill, and I asked her what the trouble was. She said, "My mother had this too."

I said vehemently: "What! Who is your mother? God is your Father-Mother! Does God have it? No! Then you do not have it, because you are actually His image and likeness."

That was the end of the illness. Mother lived to be almost ninety.

Some time ago I tripped over a hose which led from an oil tank over the sidewalk to a house. The man who was delivering the oil helped me up and expressed his belief that I had broken my nose. I had fallen on my face, and my nose was bleeding profusely. A woman came out of the house, and I gave her the telephone number of a friend, a Christian Science practitioner, and asked her to call her.

I tried to realize that there are no accidents in Mind and that man lives, moves, and has his being in Mind, not in matter. I also recalled Mrs. Eddy's words (Science and Health, p. 14), "Become conscious for a single moment that Life and intelligence are purely spiritual,—neither in nor of matter,—and the body will then utter no complaints." The practitioner continued praying, and so did I, and by the end of the week the injury was healed.

I am truly grateful for Christian Science, for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, in which I have had the privilege of serving on numerous committees, for class instruction, and for the yearly association meeting.—(Miss) Emily Meinicke, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
