In 1909 a friend called my father's attention to Christian Science. From childhood my father had suffered from a painful affliction of the head, the effects of meningitis. He went to a distant city to see a practitioner and asked him for an explanation of Science and also for help. After two weeks' treatment he came home healed and transformed, and thus this religion came into our home.

Soon after, when a child of ten, I was healed of peritonitis, although I had been given up by the doctors. This healing strengthened my parents' confidence, particularly my mother's, in God's all-power. At first under the guidance of my parents, who often turned to Christian Science for help and received it, and later with an increasing desire to seek the truth for myself, I began to grow in spiritual understanding.

I was sustained through school troubles, examinations, tasks undertaken during my training period, and difficulties encountered during my first years at work by trusting in the spiritual truths of God and man. Because I wanted to serve the Cause of Christian Science, I joined a branch church and The Mother Church at an early age, and I am grateful that I have had class instruction.

I wish to mention the healing of acute rheumatism in my knees which forced me to walk with a cane. By expressing true, spiritual joy I tried to overcome all that was joyless in my thinking. As I recognized the joy of man's oneness with God and consciously spread happiness, I was healed. "The joy of the Lord is your strength" (Neh. 8:10).

With the help of a practitioner I was healed of a progressive paralysis of the feet. I followed the practitioner's counsel to take my stand for divine Principle. After a few weeks my feet were flexible and strong.

During a mountain hike I was healed of blood poisoning in one arm by realizing the purity of true, spiritual substance. Fractured ribs and a sprained wrist and ankle have been healed, and I have been healed of frostbite and sinus trouble. A diseased thyroid gland was healed in a few days with the help of a practitioner. At the same time a sense of strain between a co-worker and me was removed and harmony restored through love.

When I was forced to leave my home in the postwar years and to establish a new one, I found a sphere of activity in the service of a branch church, dear friends, and evidence of the inexhaustible source of man's true supply from divine Love. Many a difficulty had to be worked out, but God gave the solution to each one.

I am grateful for every proof given to me and to others of the efficacy of divine law through the application of Christian Science. It is my earnest wish to grow in humility, in trust, in love for God, and in active love for mankind, and to place my life entirely at the service of God.—(Miss) Ilse Dolscius, Hannover, Germany.
