THE PURPOSE

Matthew 5:11

Pearl Strachan Hurd

Falsely accused, Christian?
Falsely.
From the adverb take
The comfort promised
By Holy Writ.

Divinely created,
Man is never guilty
Of sin or sickness,
Poverty or failure;
Is never humiliated.
Not guilty, he receives no sentence
Of imprisonment or death.

One "Judge of all the earth"
Administers justice.
And more—a blessing;
The gift of happiness.
Normal the status
Of beatitude.

Tell each one solitary
In his following after;
Tell each group gathered
At the conference table,
The news of man,
Made to be free,
Not evilly indoctrinated,
Robbed, starved, frustrated.

To be blessed!
