With great gratitude I wish to testify to the healing power of God as made available to us in Christian Science.

In the summer of 1957 I was taken ill with the grippe three times in succession. Medical treatment was unsuccessful. One night I suffered a complete nervous breakdown. In the morning I was unable to get up, and my digestive organs seemed paralyzed. For two weeks I could take scarcely any nourishment.

Then I began to read the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, which my husband had been studying for some time, and the Christian Science periodicals. However, I was not yet ready to give up the doctor or material remedies, although the doctor had told me that while he could prescribe medicines to relieve my state of deep depression and fear, there was nothing which would heal it.

I was as much afraid to live as I was to die, and I was in great despair. Then one day I read in The Herald of Christian Science (German Edition) a wonderful testimony of a healing of a similar case. It seemed almost incredible to me, and so I got in touch with the testifier. He recommended that I turn away entirely from medicine and make room for Truth only. He also gave me the address of a practitioner, whom I went to see at once.

At first it seemed difficult to give up all material remedies, but the practitioner and my husband stood by me steadfastly and patiently. After a few weeks the adamant of self-will melted in the warmth of Love. The realization that being is immortal filled my consciousness with inexpressible joy and gratitude. I was healed.

Since then I have enjoyed good health, and my life has become richer and happier. My healing has blessed my entire family. I am grateful to our Father-Mother God for Mrs. Eddy, who revealed this wonderful Science to us.

Even more than for my healing, I am grateful for the spiritual understanding of my true selfhood, of my relation to God, and of His love for His child. I am also grateful to have come to know a religion which can sustain me and all mankind and set us on the right way to salvation. —(Mrs.) Mathilde Bucher-Schöni, Thun, Switzerland.
