I have received so much good...

I have received so much good from the testimonies appearing in our periodicals that I wish publicly to express my gratitude for the many blessings which the study of Christian Science has brought into my life. I hope that my experience may be helpful to others.

Some years ago I was alone in the house one night with my two young sons and was awakened toward midnight with a great fear of impending danger. The suggestion of death was so strong that I could not sleep. Turning to the Bible and to Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, I studied for some time and gained a great sense of confidence and an assurance of God's ever-presence. The ninety-first Psalm was especially comforting. I was then able to go back to sleep.

Before daylight I was awakened again by a loud crash and realized that we were in the midst of a severe thunderstorm. A neighbor called out to see if we were safe, and then I learned that our house had been struck by lightning. Investigating the damage, we discovered that the attic was filled with smoke; there was an odor of burning wood; the stud beams were charred, but there was no fire. The bolt of lightning had grounded in the electrical outlet at the foot of my bed and a spark had burned two holes in the rug. Later when the fire chief examined the damage, he remarked it was a miracle that the house had not burned to the ground.

It was proof of divine protection, and I am so grateful for this further demonstration that when we are obedient to the leadings of divine Mind, we can experience its guidance and protection.

During the years, we have had many convincing proofs in the family of the healing and regenerating effect of obedience to God's law. There have been evidences of abundant supply always at hand, and we have witnessed healings of impetigo, sinus trouble, colds, migraine, a nervous breakdown, and so-called children's diseases. Perhaps I am most grateful for the instant availability of Truth, for in any situation, at any time, the immediacy of God's law in operation dispels discordant physical evidence.

I should also like to express sincere appreciation of the periodicals, membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, class instruction, the yearly association meeting, and of all the opportunities we have to serve the Christian Science movement.— (Mrs.) Virginia C.
