With a heart overflowing with...
With a heart overflowing with gratitude I wish to cite two recent healings, one of an inflamed vein in the leg and the other of blood poisoning.
I found on rising one morning that one of my legs was stiff and painful. It was difficult for me to get out of bed or to rise after being seated. The condition persisted for several days; then I called upon a Christian Science practitioner for treatment.
Having been a student of Christian Science for many years, during which I had had class instruction and had seen many proofs of its healing efficacy, I knew it was essential to purify my thinking and to know my true identity as the expression of Spirit, God. However, being unsteady on my feet because of the stiff leg, I stumbled and bruised a thumb. Blood poisoning set in, and my hand and thumb, including the thumbnail, became infected.
Although the pain was intense, I refused to consider the suggestion that I have surgical attention. I recalled the many challenges I had met in the past by relying on God, Truth, alone. They had brought renewed spiritual understanding and strength, and I determined that I would again take my stand for Christian Science.
Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health (p. 463), "A spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive." By clinging to this and many other powerful statements in our Leader's writings, which I looked up with the aid of the Concordances, I allowed nothing but good to enter my thought.
After a few days of consistent study I suddenly became aware that my leg was completely healed. And some time later during the night the thumb started to drain. It was a wonderful evidence of mental surgery. A new nail grew underneath the infected one, and new skin formed on the entire thumb.
I am extremely grateful for the Christian Science Visiting Nurse Service and for the love and consecrated thought of the nurse who visited me during this time to cleanse and dress my thumb.
My gratitude is great for the prayerful support of the practitioner who faithfully stood by. Every demonstration in Christian Science is a proof of God's omnipotence, omnipresence, and omniscience.—(Miss) Anna Fink, Miami Beach, Florida.
