When I was a young pupil in...
When I was a young pupil in the Christian Science Sunday School, I was disturbed one morning with a painful ear abscess. My parents were students of Christian Science; so they turned to God in prayer as we are taught to do in Science. The ear drained, and healing came about quickly.
Three years after this healing, I had a similar infection in the other ear. This time I realized that I too must pray to know that man is really always perfect, for the Bible declares (Gen. 1:27), "God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him." I studied the first part of the definition of "ears," given as follows in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy (p. 585): "Not organs of the so-called corporeal senses, but spiritual understanding." I also held to these lines from Hymn No. 134 in the Christian Science Hymnal:
I look to Thee in every need,
And never look in vain;
I feel Thy touch, eternal Love,
And all is well again.
Every day my family and I declared these truths, and I was able to remain in school during the experience. The healing soon came, and some of the students recognized it as having been accomplished by Christian Science alone.
At the end of that school year we were required to have an ear test, and my ears were reported to be normal. This was over twelve years ago, and I have had no ear trouble since.
I thank our dear Father-Mother God, for revealing to Mrs. Eddy this wonderful religion, Christian Science, through which all our needs are met and all our sickness is healed. I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and to be a member of a Christian Science Society which I have been able to serve as a Sunday School teacher.—(Mrs.) Margaret Griffin Hill, Ipswich, Massachusetts.
