I have been a Christian Scientist...

I have been a Christian Scientist for thirty-seven years, a member of The Mother Church and of a branch church. Science not only has carried me through many deep waters; it has never failed me.

My children were healed of influenza, scarlet fever, St. Vitus's dance, and of many other diseases through the application of Christian Science. My husband was healed of a nervous breakdown.

At one time I was visiting at a friend's house, and I fell down the stairs, breaking bones in my hand. A Christian Science practitioner was called, and my daughter brought me home. As I got out of the car at my house, these words from Hymn No. 148 in the Christian Science Hymnal came to me:

Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;
Bright skies will soon be o'er me,
Where darkest clouds have been.
My hope I cannot measure,
My path in life is free;
My Father has my treasure,
And He will walk with me.

In the night I had a strange feeling in my hand; so I decided to read the Bible Lesson, found in the Christian Science Quarterly, and then I went to sleep. In the morning when I awoke, my hand was completely healed. I felt very grateful to God, and the next day I was able to drive my car one hundred miles without the hand's bothering me at all.

I am grateful to God for Christian Science, for the wonderful hymns, for the patient practitioners, who are always so willing to help, and for the Christian Science churches in many parts of the world.—(Mrs.) Bessie Turner, Ridgewood, New Jersey.
