Christian Science was first introduced to my parents and to me by friends whom we met on holiday. I was suffering from an attack of asthma, something which occurred frequently. Through what our new friends told me of the teachings of Christian Science I recovered from this attack overnight.

A copy of Science and Health was purchased, but I did not take up the wholehearted study of Christian Science for several years. As a result of my study of the textbook, however, the attacks of asthma became less frequent and severe. Finally the healing was complete, and I was able to go away to college and afterward to take up a career. At the same time I commenced to study Science earnestly. Many years have passed since this healing, and I now lead a busy and useful life caring for a family of three.

A few years ago when a relative was visiting in our home, she had a stroke whilst taking a meal with the family. The help of a Christian Science practitioner was asked for, and Mrs. Eddy's words from page 111 of Science and Health were given to me: "After a lengthy examination of my discovery and its demonstration in healing the sick, this fact became evident to me,—that Mind governs the body, not partially but wholly."
