"Perfect love casteth out fear"

[Of Special Interest to Children]

When Jonathan was first taken to the Christian Science Sunday School and his name was entered on the books, he felt very lonely. But he soon learned that God is the only presence and that God would never hurt him, because God is divine Love. When he really knew this, he was happy and joined with the other children in listening to stories about Moses, Daniel, Joshua, and many others. He also liked to listen to stories about Christ Jesus, who healed sick people and fed the multitudes and stilled the storm at sea.

Jonathan soon joined in saying the Ten Commandments, the Lord's Prayer, with its spiritual interpretation by Mrs. Eddy, and the Beatitudes. When the Bible texts were explained to him, Jonathan saw that God is his real Father-Mother. And this helped him to behave nicely to his human father and mother; also he learned not to be too dependent on them but to do things for himself.

He also learned to keep out of his thinking ugly thoughts and to be "pure in heart" as one of the Beatitudes says. He saw too that everyone is in reality a child of God. In fact, he learned so many truths that he did not like to miss Sunday School.
