As a direct answer to prayer, I was led to enroll my children in the Sunday School of a Christian Science Society which was then being formed in our town. At that time we were attending a church of another denomination, but my last doubts concerning sending the children to the Christian Science Sunday School vanished after I had asked what exactly they would be taught, and received the reply, "They will learn to love the Bible and how to use it in their daily lives."

Although I did not immediately take up the study of this Science myself, I soon realized how wrong it was for me to encourage the children to follow the teachings of Christian Science and then to call a doctor when they were ailing. I reasoned that if the way had been made clear for them, it was meant for me too. Since that time, over sixteen years ago, I have never looked back.

Soon after I made the decision to rely on Christian Science, my son fell ill with a fever. Feeling that this was an opportunity to put my good resolutions into practice, I started reading the textbook, and I did little else that day. As the truth gradually dawned on me that Love is ever present and that there is in reality nothing to fear, the fever abated. All the other symptoms, which appeared to be those of scarlet fever then prevalent at the school my son was attending, also disappeared.

Ever since that time many healings have been witnessed in our family. Ptomaine poisoning was overcome in about three hours. When I was on the verge of losing consciousness on that occasion, I remember thinking: "If all I have learned is not true, life is not worth living. But I know it is true, because I have proved it over and over again."

Then the words on page 303 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy came to my thought, "Spiritual man is the image or idea of God, an idea which cannot be lost nor separated from its divine Principle." The healing came with this realization, and there were no discordant aftereffects.

By clinging to the truth that "a spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive" (ibid., p. 463), I have seen chicken pox and mumps healed in a day after the first symptoms had manifested themselves.

For these and many other healings, I am profoundly grateful, but more so for the better understanding of the truth which is being unfolded daily. I am also increasingly grateful to Mrs. Eddy for her unselfishness in providing us with the means by which the truth that makes us free is unfolded.
