DISCERNING SPIRITUAL REALITY

The grand purpose of our lives unfolds as we understand that Life is God. In reality the only life we are living today is the manifestation of the one Life, God, for there is no other. Our lives, then, are what divine Science reveals them to be and not what material sense would have us believe they are.

In "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany,'" Mary Baker Eddy writes (p. 160), "To live so as to keep human consciousness in constant relation with the divine, the spiritual, and the eternal, is to individualize infinite power; and this is Christian Science."

As consciousness is kept "in constant relation with the divine, the spiritual, and the eternal,"' we become superior to our environment. As the so-called material body is one phase of environment, we exercise dominion over our bodies by consciously bringing their every action under the control of spiritual law. Mrs. Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 427), "Immortal Mind, governing all, must be acknowledged as supreme in the physical realm, so-called, as well as in the spiritual."
