Activities for the Armed Services

Hawaii

Honolulu, Hawaii, a crossroads in the Pacific, is headquarters of the Pacific Command of the United States Armed Forces. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine, and Coast Guard installations dot the island of Oahu. On the Hawaiian Islands the work of Christian Science Activities for the Armed Services is carried on by five Christian Science Ministers and four Christian Science Representatives. One Minister acts as Supervisor for these Activities. At twelve of the major island installations, Ministers have scheduled hours for interviews with Christian Science service personnel and their dependents.

In the Aloha naval chapel, Pearl Harbor, servicemen and their dependents conduct Christian Science services and prepare literature for distribution to local military installations and to several islands of the Pacific and South Pacific. They carry on this work under the supervision of a Minister.
