To me Christian Science provides...

To me Christian Science provides the "cup of cold water" (Matt. 10:42) for all who thirst after righteousness. I was one who thirsted, and when I have sincerely and obediently applied this truth, it has met my every need.

Through the years there have been trials many and healings many, and I am grateful for each one. Since I am active in the sports world, there have been many proofs of the preventive power of Christ, Truth, as well as instantaneous healings, and endurance and strength have been gained when needed.

About three years ago, after I had been at the office about an hour, an erroneous condition presented itself in the form of a very severe pain in my head and a numbness throughout my body, I immediately declared the truth, but by noontime the situation was no better; so I felt that I needed help and called a Christian Science practitioner. All I could remember the practitioner saying was this: "Do not give your consent to error. You are actually the perfect child of God."

I shall be ever grateful to a friend, a Christian Scientist, who called me that afternoon around two o'clock, for in trying to deliver that telephone call, my co-workers found me in a semiconscious condition. I heard voices asking, "Doctor?" "Hospital?" But I was only listening for God's voice, and I said only the one word "home," because I knew the practitioner was working for me.

I was carried out of the building, and they rather reluctantly took me home. I should like to say that at no time was there any fear in my thought, because I had put my complete trust in God, knowing that "the government shall be upon his shoulder" (Isa. 9:6).

I knew nothing from the time I was put into bed until the next morning when the alarm clock went off, and I jumped out of bed to turn it off. Then I realized I was completely healed.

I very gratefully and humbly thanked God for His sustaining truth and very joyously dressed for work. I reported to the practitioner that I was back on the job and all was well. My employer and fellow workers were amazed to see me. There was no period of convalescence, and I was as strong as ever I had been. The time lost from work through this experience was the only time I had been absent on account of sickness during sixteen years of employment at this place. For such protection I am grateful.

Two days later the cause of the trouble was uncovered. There was a conference consisting of seven men held in my office. In less than an hour's time the conference had to be discontinued because all seven men became ill and had to be taken home. The trouble was diagnosed as gas poisoning. An investigation disclosed that a defective furnace pipe was bringing used gases back into the office.

I am so grateful to be part of this great Christian Science movement and to be serving it in a small way. I am humbly grateful to our beloved Leader for her foresight and divine guidance in mapping out the way so carefully for us to follow. I am also very grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church and for the blessed privilege of class instruction.

I pray daily to demonstrate this wonderful religion of Christian Science and to let the light of Love so shine in my consciousness that its warmth will be felt by each one whom I meet.—(Miss) Dorothy L. Fink, St. Louis, Missouri.
