Each time a Christian Science...
Each time a Christian Science periodical is delivered to my door, I turn eagerly to the testimonies for the privilege of sharing in the demonstrations of God's love, power, and tender care that others have enjoyed. It is now time for me to add my expression of gratitude for Christian Science and to share some of my experiences.
I was introduced to the teachings of Christian Science when I was quite young. As a child I attended the Christian Science Sunday School, although irregularly, for my mother was not particularly interested.
As I grew into my teen-age years I became a rather moody and unhappy person and was subject to spells of depression, for my home life left much to be desired. It was during that time that Christian Science became dear and important to me.
By the time I was nineteen I was earnestly studying our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I rejoiced hourly in the knowledge of the nearness and availability of God, divine Love, which Christian Science teaches.
I shall never forget the joy, peace, and freedom that came into my experience when I began the study of this religion. My physical condition improved greatly. I had been underweight before, but now I gained until my weight became normal. The smoking habit, which I had acquired earlier, was easily laid aside in my desire to do God's will only. Progress was evidenced in my work, and a responsible position was given to me with a substantial increase in salary.
Throughout the years since my marriage, the members of our family have experienced healings of deafness, bursitis, injuries, influenza, virus infections, and lack. Unhappy business relations have yielded to the truth that there is only one Mind, which knows and governs all. At various times, through our turning to God as "a very present help in trouble" (Ps. 46:1), we have been provided with homes in a marvelous way when there seemed to be a scarcity of them.
Christian Science has been an indispensable aid in the rearing of two children. When small, they loved to have the hymns from the Christian Science Hymnal sung to them if the false claims of sickness or pain seemed real, and they were always comforted.
I am so grateful to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for giving us Christian Science, by means of which we can learn the nature of God and prove that He is ever at hand, healing, governing, and guiding those who love and obey Him.
I am also grateful to the practitioners, who so lovingly stand by to help and heal when called upon. I am grateful for class instruction, for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, in which I have the opportunity to serve our beloved Cause.—(Mrs.) Dolores P. Snodgrass, Louisville, Kentucky.
