These words from Science and Health...

These words from Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy once arrested my attention (p. 353): "Perfection underlies reality." I recalled having read these words many times and also other sentences in the same paragraph: "Without perfection, nothing is wholly real. All things will continue to disappear, until perfection appears and reality is reached."

For some time I had been searching for an understanding to overcome a growth on one of my fingers, which was unsightly and quite conspicuous. As I pondered the words, "Perfection underlies reality," it became clear to me that perfection could not underlie this ugly growth; perfection could not be its source, basis, or foundation. Therefore, the growth must be unreal and without power either to manifest itself or to perpetuate itself.

During the next week or so as I daily reminded myself about the perfection of God and the perfection of man in His likeness, the truth, "Perfection underlies reality," was the central point around which I continued to make my metaphysical affirmations. This spiritual, scientific reasoning soon resulted in healing. The growth dried up and disappeared.

Many other healings have been experienced, including a quick healing of a very high fever. In expressing my gratitude for these healings and for many other blessings, I should also like to say that I am very thankful for the consecrated life of Mrs. Eddy, which enabled her to do such invaluable pioneer work. We are reaping the benefits of it today, and posterity will continue to enjoy it.
