Class instruction in Christian Science...

Class instruction in Christian Science was the most blessed experience of my life. I had attended the Sunday School and had learned something of the teachings of this precious religion. However, class instruction helped me to understand more of God and more of myself as God's spiritual reflection. Since that time I have had excellent health, more abundant supply, and more joy and happiness than I had ever thought could possibly be mine.

For years I suffered from asthma. There were periods of great discouragement and fear, but my mother would encourage me by declaring the truth and by reading the Bible, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and the Christian Science Hymnal.

One day during an attack of asthma I turned my thought to the seeming cause of this problem: that I was constantly having colds. I reasoned that the opposite of cold is warmth. Whenever I thought of warmth, I thought of Love. Suddenly it came to me that I needed to love more. In that instant I was healed. My gratitude knew no bounds, for there had been times when I had hardly dared hope that I would ever lead a normal life.

This healing took place ten years ago, and since that time I have led an active life. I have participated in sports and have been able to do everything required of me, although normal activities had been impossible before. Through this healing, I learned that one must not be discouraged or ever give up hope, no matter how long a discordant condition has existed.

A few days before my daughter was born, I had a severe fall, and one foot was badly injured. I was unable to get up by myself, and I was alone that evening. As I sat on the floor I thought of all of the prayerful studying that I had done in the preceding months. The two facts that came to me were: that God is present and that God is the only power. At that moment of need I felt God's presence, allness, and love.

I reasoned that since God was present to help me, I did not need human help to stand up and that since God is all-power, no other power, such as an accident, could harm me. Immediately, I was able to get up and walk to my bedroom. I continued to know that because there are no accidents in God's kingdom and because God, good, is the only cause, there can be only one effect—good. In a few days the discoloration was gone, and the foot was normal.

Another healing that I am extremely grateful for was one of a chronic sore throat. This healing came about during the time that I received class instruction. Up to that time, I had awakened every morning with a sore throat.

I am so grateful to have Christian Science in raising my daughter. Since her infancy our home has been peaceful and harmonious. I am grateful for The Christian Science Journal and the Sentinel. These two periodicals have been a constant source of help and encouragement to our family. The Christian Science Monitor has brought to me not only a great deal of pleasure, but greater understanding of world events.
