Before we came into Christian Science, my husband and I were active members of an orthodox church. We had been brought up in religious homes; and in our prayers we sincerely tried to feel close to God, but that deep longing was never satisfied until the wonderful truth of Christian Science came into our lives.

My husband became ill with a condition of the stomach, which prevented him from eating normally, and for three and a half years he tried to get help through various medical doctors, osteopaths, chiropractors, and Swedish masseurs. At different times he was under observation in three hospitals and had many X rays and various tests, but all to no avail. Special food combinations and health foods were tried during that period, but eventually he was living on liquids only, and gradually he became weaker.

During this entire period the thought was always with me: "There must be something somewhere that would help him." We sent for much literature about how to find God, but we did not find God through any of those sources; and my husband's condition remained the same. Unable to keep up our home any longer, we sold our furniture and moved in with my parents, and I went back into the business world to help pay for the medical and hospital bills.

One day in the office a Sentinel was given to me. When I read it I immediately knew that it contained the truth we had searched for all of our lives. That same day I went to a Christian Science Reading Room to purchase a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I read it, and my husband also read it. Then he called on a Christian Science practitioner, who lovingly helped him.

The thought of health foods and special food combinations faded away, and my husband was able to eat any food without difficulty. He gradually regained forty pounds which he had lost, and complete healing took place.

We soon joined The Mother Church and a branch church. I am humbly grateful to God for our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and for the wonderful truth she discovered Also I am grateful for class instruction and for many healing experiences in Christian Science. —(Mrs.) Sylvia E. Sommer, Utica, Michigan.

It is a privilege to corroborate my wife's testimony and to express my gratitude for Christian Science. A new life of joy and happiness, as well as relief from pain and suffering, was opened to me upon learning more about Mrs. Eddy's discovery. For her unselfishness in bringing her message to humanity, I am truly thankful.
