I first became interested in Christian Science...

I first became interested in Christian Science through the healing of my mother, who had for many years sought relief through medical means from an internal difficulty which the physicians declared incurable. After hearing of Christian Science, she asked for treatment. She was helped and finally completely healed. Although I was a little girl, this healing made a deep impression upon me. There was not only a complete physical change, but my mother's nature, which had been very morose, was changed to a joyous one; and she in turn helped others through Christian Science over a period of years.

At the age of twelve I joined The Mother Church, and I have had the joy of working on almost every committee in a branch church. It has brought growth and spiritual unfoldment, for through this work I learned to co-operate with fellow members and to become more unselfish, always holding in mind the real goal of strengthening our Cause.

I have been healed of chronic colds, sore throat, and bronchial trouble which was so severe that it was necessary for me to remain in bed for days at a time. This was healed as fear was overcome and as it became clear that man's being is impregnable and forever at-one with God, who has given him dominion over all the earth. The daily overcoming of sinful beliefs is the thing for which I am most grateful.

Some time ago my arm was broken in an accident. As soon as I was able to collect my thoughts, I made audible declarations of Truth. Then I called for the Bible and opened to God's promise to "bind up that which was broken" (Ezek. 34:16). It came to me so clearly to accept this promise that I applied no splints or bandages.

About ten days later it was necessary to go to a distant city to perform a public service. Fear suggested that it could not be done, but as I applied the truth according to my understanding of Christian Science, all suggestions of pain, inflammation, and discoloration were overcome; and it was possible for me to do all that needed to be done.

Upon my arrival home a member of the family insisted that an X ray be taken, as the fingers on the hand of the injured arm were stiff. To satisfy him, I did so. When the picture was examined the man in charge said, "I can show you where the break was; but it is knitting in a straight line as if it had been bound." In a few days the fingers were normal again. This was truly a proof to me of mental surgery.

I am humbly grateful to God that Mrs. Eddy gave us the Science of Christianity by following closely in the footsteps of the master Christian, Christ Jesus.—(Mrs.) Myrtle B. McCosker, Sherman Oaks, California.
