My introduction to Christian Science...

My introduction to Christian Science came at the outset of my teaching career. I can never be sufficiently grateful for the unfoldment of good and for the innumerable proofs of God's care which have occurred in the intervening years. The first healing I had from the reading of our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, came within a few days of my first visit to a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. I was thrown from the platform of a streetcar into the path of a rapidly approaching automobile. I was protected from being struck by the car, and my only injury was a badly sprained ankle.

Early the following morning, while in severe pain, I reached out to God for help and opened Science and Health at page 282, where I read, "Whatever indicates the fall of man or the opposite of God or God's absence, is the Adam-dream, which is neither Mind nor man, for it is not begotten of the Father." I pondered this arresting statement. Then I arose and dressed, feeling completely free. The same evening I attended a dance and was able to participate fully.

Throughout World War II, when I was with evacuee school children, I had numerous proofs that man is in reality a spiritual being, living in the atmosphere of divine Love, and that home is wherever Love and Principle are gratefully acknowledged as supreme. More recently I was led to relinquish glasses, to which I had been in bondage for over thirty years. Truly Christian Science brings us into man's God-given freedom.

Mere words are quite inadequate to express my heartfelt gratitude for the selfless lifework of our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, both in founding the Christian Science movement with its many activities and in wisely providing for their growth and perpetuity. I am grateful for class instruction and also for the opportunity to teach in Sunday School, which is proving a wonderful and valuable experience.—(Mrs.) Margery Myddleton-Hill, London, England.
