In February, 1945, my testimony...

In February, 1945, my testimony of a healing of tuberculosis of the lungs was printed in The Christian Science Journal. Now I wish to express further gratitude to God through our periodicals.

For some years the financial income in my home was very limited. Bills remained unpaid month after month. I became despondent and wondered what I should do. When I prayed, these words came to me (Matt. 6:33): "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

I went on applying the truth as well as I understood it. When attacks of discouragement came again, I listened to the still small voice, and this message from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy came to my thought (p. 495): "Study thoroughly the letter and imbibe the spirit." When I became willing to devote all my time to the healing of the sick and sinning and to do other work for our beloved Cause, my income increased until I had an adequate supply.

I am grateful for the following admonition our wise Leader, Mrs. Eddy, gives us in the Manual of The Mother Church under the heading "Alertness to Duty" (Art. VIII, Sect. 6): "It shall be the duty of every member of this Church to defend himself daily against aggressive mental suggestion, and not be made to forget nor to neglect his duty to God, to his Leader, and to mankind."

Several years ago I felt a heart attack coming on. The suggestion came, "Now, fall backward." I replied aloud: "I will not. I need not do it. I am not going to do it!" Defending myself in this way against aggressive mental suggestion, I was protected and did not yield to the attack. Soon I felt entirely free.

I am grateful to God for Christ Jesus, for Mrs. Eddy, and for everyone working for the Cause of Christian Science.—(Mrs.) Elizabeth Jaeger Krueger, Seattle, Washington.
