The importance of Christian Science...
The importance of Christian Science in my life can never be measured. It has met my every need for over forty-five years. Our family's first experience in Science was the healing of my mother after the doctors had given her up to die because of an internal growth that five operations had failed to correct. My brothers and I were put in the Christian Science Sunday School and from that early instruction learned to depend on God for our every need.
Our healings have been mental, moral, physical, and financial. Never has the Principle of our religion failed us when we have rightly applied it. My healings are too numerous to mention separately. With each demonstration of the truth I have noted a definite spiritual lifting of thought, a higher outlook, a greater love and clearer understanding.
Some time ago I broke my leg. I turned my thoughts to omnipotent God, who is ever present. Kind neighbors carried me into the house, and I asked to have a practitioner called. Then came the suggestions that I should go to a doctor, have a cast, and do all the other things mortal mind thinks are necessary in such cases. I refused to do all these, because I knew God could do all that needed to be done.
Through Christian Science the bone was set, the swelling reduced, and the leg healed. The third day after the accident I got into a car and went to vote. I also went by car to a city some distance away. In ten weeks I could use the leg that had been broken as well as the, other one. Later, to please a member of the family, I had the leg X-rayed, and it was found to have been properly set. For the respect that was accorded to Christian Science by those who had watched the case with some fear, I am sincerely grateful.
My gratitude to God is beyond words. I can only pray that as I daily rededicate myself to the Cause of Christian Science, my life will express my reverent thankfulness. I can never be out of debt to our Way-shower, Christ Jesus, and to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy. For membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, for class teaching, and for all the blessings I am daily receiving, I thank God.—(Mrs.) Lois McCrea Caldwell, San Clemente, California.
