GOD'S UNCHANGEABLE LAW

When Mary Baker Eddy was apparently passing on as the result of an accident, she asked for her Bible, and while reading the account of the restoration to health of the palsied man by Jesus she was instantaneously healed. In searching for the Principle underlying her healing and the healings accomplished by Jesus, she delved deeply into the Scriptures. She found that the so-called miracles were but the natural outcome of the ever-operative law of God, which, when intelligently applied, annuls every untoward condition.

In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy defines "miracle" as, "That which is divinely natural, but must be learned humanly; a phenomenon of Science" (p. 591). She also says (p. 134), "A miracle fulfils God's law, but does not violate that law." And farther on she explains, "The miracle introduces no disorder, but unfolds the primal order, establishing the Science of God's unchangeable law."

During his three short years of ministry Jesus established God's unchangeable law of Life when he raised the son of the widow of Nain and others from death. He established the law of ever-present supply when he fed the multitudes with a few loaves and fishes. He demonstrated the absolute immortality of the spiritual senses when he restored sight to the blind and hearing to the deaf. And in his own matchless experience he proved that crucifixion, death, and the grave were powerless to hold him or to silence the truths which he had given to a waiting world.
