My gratitude for Christian Science...

My gratitude for Christian Science is unbounded. I have had so many proofs of God's loving care that I should like to share them with others.

I was privileged to attend a Christian Science Sunday School as a child, but in high school I drifted away from its teachings. A severe illness, however, aroused me to earnest study. I was living with a sister who was not a Christian Scientist, and she insisted on having her physician examine me. His diagnosis was that of septic poisoning. He stated that an immediate operation was imperative and that the condition would leave me a semi-invalid. I asked to be moved to my mother's home, where a practitioner was called, and her help was lovingly given. I spent several days and nights in consecrated study, for the pain was so intense that sleep was impossible.

I shall never forget when the healing took place. I was reading the following passage from page 339 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy: "Since God is All, there is no room for His unlikeness. God, Spirit, alone created all, and called it good. Therefore evil, being contrary to good, is unreal, and cannot be the product of God." As the truth of these words dawned in my consciousness I felt at peace, and an indescribable joy came over me. I wanted to sing aloud, I was so filled with happiness. For the first time in a week I had a peaceful rest. Within a few days the physical condition was completely healed. The entire experience covered a period of approximately two weeks. This was over ten years ago, and the predictions of the physician were proved untrue, for I have since led an active, normal life and the unfoldment of good has been a continuous one.
