Although I attended a Christian Science Sunday School...

Although I attended a Christian Science Sunday School from an early age and had many healings through the loving help of my mother or a practitioner, it was not until I was established in my own home that I really commenced a persistent study of the truths revealed by our religion. Since making Christian Science my own I have found much happiness in my membership in The Mother Church and in my activity in a branch church, and I am grateful for the growth they promote.

During the Second World War, after spending two and a half years in China, my husband returned to this country and was stationed in San Francisco, California. Less than six months after his return, he received orders to report to the port of embarkation at Seattle, Washington, to sail to Japan. Feeling that the orders were a mistake and should be rectified, we visited a practitioner, who assured us that right is might and that man cannot be out of his right place. We packed our belongings and left for Seattle, clinging to the words of the practitioner. On arriving, my husband received new orders revoking the old ones and sending him back to San Francisco. While in Seattle we were able to have a much-needed visit with his family.

Upon arising one morning several years ago, I felt as though one side of my body was functioning separately from the rest of the body. One eye was viewing at about a forty-five degree angle from that of the other eye, and my side was partially numb. Much concerned, I immediately called a practitioner and continued to my place of business. By the time I arrived at work the difficulty had cleared to the point that no one noticed it, and I was able to attend to my business for the day. By the next morning the condition had entirely cleared away, leaving me with perfect balance and sight.

Some time ago I felt a painful condition of the nerves in my right arm, which increased in intensity, although I worked with Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy most of the day. I read late into the night and then retired, only to awaken later to find the condition had spread to my shoulders and one side of my head. In great fear I called a practitioner, who quickly quieted my fear and told me to call her back in an hour.

This I did, and during the conversation it was uncovered that I had been criticizing another and was holding deep resentment toward him because of his indifference and apathy. I was told to look up Mrs. Eddy's definition of man which begins on page 475 of Science and Health, and if I was not asleep at the end of another hour I was to call the practitioner again. Before the hour was up I was asleep, and by the next evening I was perfectly free from both the physical difficulty and the resentment I had harbored. How thankful I am for the practitioner who was so ready to help!

I am very grateful that Christian Science is the religion of Love and that through Love all our problems can be mastered. For our lecturers, who are rousing the dormant understanding of mankind with their wonderful messages of truth and hope, for our loving practitioners, and for my many healings, I give thanks to God.—(Mrs.) Betty Zimmermann Sneddon, Salt Lake City, Utah.
