Everything good that I have I...

Everything good that I have I owe to Christian Science, and I am indeed grateful to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who discovered and founded this practical religion and gave it to the world. Many years ago my mother was persuaded to try Christian Science for a condition pronounced fatal by the physicians, and she was healed. After this she became an earnest student of this Science and was healed of a valvular condition of the heart and of a badly broken wrist. Later she had a quick healing of a sprained ankle.

From birth I was said to be delicate, and I had one illness after another. A children's specialist told my mother that it would be better if I did not live to grow up, as I would always be an invalid. Through Christian Science I was completely lifted out of this state and have been able to lead a healthy and active life.

Early training in a Christian Science Sunday School gave me understanding which has proved of inestimable value. As a little girl I was able to overcome a very bad headache and other difficulties. On another occasion I upset a kettle of boiling water in such a way that I was enveloped in steam and water and soaked to the skin. The only aftereffects of this experience were a burning sensation on my face for a few seconds and the discomfort of wet clothes.

For a period of several years I had an elderly mother and a home to care for. At times when our money was depleted our needs were met, sometimes in a remarkable manner. However hopeless seemed the situation, there was always a way out when I turned wholeheartedly to God. In this experience I learned many lessons, for which I am very grateful.

Christian Science gave me courage and ability to start a business career without any special training. In London, where I worked during the latter part of the Second World War, I was protected during air raids and the attacks of rockets and flying bombs. Even the fear of them was overcome. Mrs. Eddy says of God (Unity of Good, pp. 3, 4), "He has mercy upon us, and guides every event of our careers." This has been proved in my case. —(Miss) Nancy N. Wilson, Boston, Massachusetts.
