LOVE—THE ONLY ATTRACTION

When the need of metaphysical work for church is being considered, one may hear the statement, "Love is the only attraction," with the implication that this will draw those seeking healing to the Church of Christ, Scientist.

The writer had frequently used this thought himself in working for his church and its growth, when one day he questioned: "What do I mean when I say, 'Love is the only attraction,' and how will Love bring the sick and weary in this community to Christian Science to be healed? They may never have heard of this Science, or they may be prejudiced."

Considering this question, he recalled Mary Baker Eddy's well-known statement in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." Here was a definite, logical reason for mankind to seek the divine Principle, Love, which Christian Science reveals. Love meets the human need! He then realized that he had been making this declaration as somewhat of an abstraction without exploring its real implications.
