Christian Science has been a...
Christian Science has been a great blessing in my life. Through its truths many healing proofs of God's love and care for His children have come to me and my family. I am truly grateful for having been brought up by a loving grandmother who always relied on Christian Science for help. She enrolled me in the Sunday School when I was very young. What I learned there has since helped me in a great many ways.
One of my healings has always stood out in my thought. At the age of nine I was healed of quinsy with no medical aid. At another time, while I was suffering from scarlet fever, a complication occurred which made it impossible for me to open my mouth wide enough to put in a spoon. The condition was healed through the application of Christian Science.
In my late teens I spent seven months as an associate at the Sanatorium of the Christian Science Benevolent Association, Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. During that time my outlook on life was greatly changed. The attractions of worldly entertainment and unwholesome companionship completely disappeared. I am now happily married and have two lovely children, both born at home under Christian Science treatment.
Soon after our first child was born, she became unable to take nourishment properly. In working for her with the aid of a practitioner I found the hymns from the Christian Science Hymnal very helpful, especially the words in Mrs. Eddy's beautiful hymn entitled "Love" (Poems, p. 7),
"Fed by Thy love divine we live,
For Love alone is Life."
Of much help also were Jesus' words (Matt. 4:4), "It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."
One evening I was alone with the baby, who had been crying almost constantly for two hours. I had tried every way I could think of to feed her, but she would take no nourishment. I was literally at my extremity and on the verge of tears. Putting the baby in her basket, I prayed to know what to do. The answer came instantly and was as dear to mo as if the words had been spoken. I was led to the right kind of food to give the baby, and she was immediately satisfied and went to sleep. Through continued Christian Science treatment she was soon able to eat normally and happily.
I should like to express my sincere gratitude for the consecrated work of the practitioner who helped on this case and for the privilege of having in time of need the help of nurses trained at a Christian Science Benevolent Association Sanatorium.
A home and supply have been beautifully provided. All our needs have been met when Christian Science has been properly and persistently applied. I am grateful to God for His ever-operative law, which makes healthful and harmonious living a present reality; for Mrs. Eddy, who so clearly and completely explains this law; and for the Christian Science periodicals, which broaden and enlighten our outlook. —(Mrs.) Juanita Baeslach Wilk, Chagrin Falls, Ohio.
