The testimonies in our periodicals...

The testimonies in our periodicals and those I have heard at our Wednesday testimony meetings in Churches of Christ, Scientist, have greatly inspired and illumined my thought. In humble gratitude I relate the following experience, hoping that it will help someone as I have been helped.

On account of a retail business which entailed long hours of work, my husband and I were forced to live in a somewhat neglected neighborhood. Because we were dissatisfied with the environment, we moved from one apartment to another, very frequently blaming our plight on the neighborhood. Finally we endeavored to correct the situation by obtaining a business in a very attractive neighborhood. A suitable residence was established, and the problem seemed to be solved. But after a year the business proved to be unsuccessful, and we were forced to retrace our footsteps. Again we were faced with the problem of seeking an apartment in the old locality.

At that time I was a rather young student of Christian Science, and I sought the advice of more experienced students. It was revealed to me that my concept of neighborhood and home had to be changed. I was told to study the following quotation from "Pulpit and Press" by Mrs. Eddy (p.2): "The real house in which 'we live, and move, and have our being' is Spirit, God, the eternal harmony of infinite Soul."

This statement helped me to realize that our true home is in the neighborhood of Love, where eternal harmony prevails. I was also led to study the Bible passage (John 14:2,3): "In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."

It became very clear to me that a right place was already prepared for me and mine by the one unerring Mind, which never misplaces nor displaces its own ideas. I knew that all I had to do was to accept this right sense of place with joy and gratitude. After holding to these spiritual truths for about two days I received a telephone call from someone I did not know informing me of a newly renovated apartment with the most modern conveniences and appointments. The apartment was located very near our business, yet away from the noise and commotion of that neighborhood. The apartment met our every need and proved to be a blessing in many ways. After several happy years the way opened for us to buy a house. I am grateful to testify that the lesson learned in procuring the apartment helped us to obtain our present home, which expresses completeness and order, and provides much satisfaction.

Membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, class instruction from an inspired teacher, and our annual association meetings have given me much joy. I thank God that Mrs. Eddy revealed to this age the Comforter promised by Christ Jesus.—(Mrs.) Rachel Miller, Far Rockaway, New York.

I am very happy to verify the preceding testimony, and I want to express my deep and heartfelt gratitude for membership in The Mother Church. I have had many wonderful proofs of God's love and protection, and I feel that mere words can never express the peace and joy I feel inwardly.
