Each day my gratitude grows for...

Each day my gratitude grows for our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for giving us Science and Health and her other writings. It was the efficacy of this truth that enabled me to prove in a degree this healing power.

While I was assisting one of my fellow workers in moving a large drilling fixture from one press to another, the fixture became separated and fell to the floor, turning over on my instep. The iron disc weighed over two hundred pounds. This occurred shortly after we had started the day's work. Although the blow was very painful, I was able to think clearly and declare the truths of Christian Science that are ever available. The statements that came to me from page 424 of our textbook, Science and Health, were: "Accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind, and we must leave the mortal basis of belief and unite with the one Mind, in order to change the notion of chance to the proper sense of God's unerring direction and thus bring out harmony," and, "Under divine Providence there can be no accidents, since there is no room for imperfection in perfection."

I was able to stand and carry on my work until noon, when I asked a worker, who is a Christian Scientist, to call a practitioner for me. The help was very lovingly given and enabled me to complete my day's work. The only fear I had was that I would be sent to First Aid. which is a rule of the company, From this I was spared. I am sure materia medica would have painted a black picture, with a prolonged healing.

The practitioner helped me to see that there are no time measurements. I was absent from work only two days. On my return there were no questions asked, and no medical examination was suggested. I was very grateful for this protection and the loving assistance of the practitioner in helping me to glorify God.

I have never had any desire for any other means of healing since becoming interested in Christian Science nineteen years ago. I am also grateful for the Manual of The Mother Church by our Leader, a section of which reads in part (Art. VIII, Sect. 15), "God requires our whole heart, and He supplies within the wide channels of The Mother Church dutiful and sufficient occupation for all its members." For all the blessings which Christian Science affords, I am truly grateful.— Henry E. Carlin, Hartford, Connecticut.
