New Pamphlet
Announcement is made of a new vest pocket pamphlet entitled, "Proofs of God's Protection." This compilation, which is especially designed for men and women in the service, is composed of reprinted testimonies of healing and protection experienced during World War II. The testimonies originally appeared in The Christian Science Journal and Christian Science Sentinel. This pamphlet replaces a former one of the same title. Price 10 cents.
Radiocast Lectures
In order that radiocast lectures may be announced in the Sentinel in time for pickup in countries outside the United States, will churches expecting to give such lectures send this information to the Journal, Sentinel, and Herald Editorial Department at least two months in advance of date of lecture, if possible.
Membership Notice
Applications for membership in The Mother Church are acted upon by The Christian Science Board of Directors twice each year as provided for in the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy, Article XIII, Section 2.
The next date of admission is November 2, 1951. Applications to be considered on that date must reach the Clerk not later than October 1, 1951. If those who wish to take this step will forward their applications as early as possible rather than wait until near the closing date, it will greatly facilitate the work in the Clerk's office.
An instruction folder, giving full details for filling out the application properly, accompanies every application. The questionnaire, which is a part of it, should be filled out by the applicant and forwarded to the Clerk with the application.
Application blanks and information concerning Church membership may be obtained at Christian Science Reading Rooms, from practitioners listed in The Christian Science Journal, or from clerks of branch churches or societies. Applications may also be obtained from Gordon V. Comer, Clerk, 107 Falmouth Street, Boston 15, Massachusetts.
Christian Science Exhibit in Washington, D. C.
Visitors to Washington, D. C., are cordially invited to the exhibit rooms on the second floor of the Christian Science Building at 1601 I (Eye) Street, N. W. Here carefully prepared exhibits provide glimpses of the origin, scope, and healing ministry of Christian Science. The exhibit is open free to the public daily, including holidays, Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. On Thanksgiving Day, Christmas, and New Year's Day, the hours are the same as on Sunday.
Submitting Testimonies
Convincing testimonies of healing in Christian Science are welcomed for publication. A testimony should be concise and include only the important points necessary to tell of the healing. Thus more testimonies can be published. Testimonies should be verified by three members of The Mother Church who know of the healing or can vouch for the integrity of the testifier. If the testifier is unacquainted with three members, his affidavit may be sufficient, but in this case he should, if possible, obtain verification from one or two members. The testifier should submit the verifications with the testimony. Complete addresses of the testifier and his vouchers should be furnished.
Testimonies should be addressed to Journal, Sentinel, and Herald Editorial Department, One. Norway Street, Boston 15, Massachusetts.
Attention, Members of the Armed Services!
The Mother Church continues to provide Workers, wherever possible, at military stations and veterans' hospitals. Names of Workers can be obtained through the Chaplain's Office at each station or hospital.
Parents or service personnel are asked to send names and military addresses of Christian Scientists in the armed forces to Christian Science Camp Welfare Activities, 107 Falmouth Street, Boston 15, Massachusetts. In order for this department to be of the greatest service, changes of military address should be reported promptly.
Christian Scientists are encouraged to register as such, rather than as Protestants.
