Several years ago I was involved...

Several years ago I was involved in an automobile collision, and my car was hurled into a telephone pole. At the moment of impact I had a clear sense of the allness of God. Then human consciousness left me. When I awakened, I found I had been covered with blankets, and I was told that I must not move, that I was badly injured, and that a doctor and an ambulance had been sent for.

Instantly I declared audibly "the scientific statement of being," as given on page 468 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and again audibly affirmed the allness of God. While doing this, I moved my body: the right shoulder bones went back into place, and the bones of my right leg snapped into place so that I was able to move without pain.

When I tried to take a deep breath, however, there was indication of pressure from the ribs against my right lung. Again I made some statements of truth, and the pressure was relieved so that deep breathing was again possible. Feeling the need of additional mental support, I asked if there was a Christian Scientist present. Instantly a man stooped down and said, "My wife is a registered practitioner, and we live only two doors up the street."

I asked for her help, and within a matter of minutes she was by my side. After a few moments of prayer, I assured her that I was all right. With the help of her husband, I arose without difficulty. The rest of that day and night I spent in the home of the practitioner, and the following day I took a six-hour train ride back to my home. On Sunday morning and afternoon I performed my duty as First Reader without anyone in the congregation knowing that anything unusual had occurred.

I have had many proofs of the power of God to heal, and I am grateful that Christian Science explains how to demonstrate His law. I shall always be grateful to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for this revelation of Truth.—Matthew W. Potts, New Rochelle, New York.
