Gratitude for the blessing and the...

Gratitude for the blessing and the proving of Christian Science in business and in daily living for the past eighteen years prompts this testimony.

I started in business in a so–called difficult period with little capital. But I had a great love of and faith in Christian Science, and I held in thought the following statement by Mrs. Eddy in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 307): "God gives you His spiritual ideas, and in turn, they give you daily supplies. Never ask for to–morrow: it is enough that divine Love is an ever–present help; and if you wait, never doubting, you will have all you need every moment."

My husband and I worked together, and we indeed had daily to demonstrate this truth. This meant constant watching of every thought, persistent reversal of all suggestions of fear, insufficiency, dishonesty, and unfair competition; it meant also the undeviating adherence to Principle in all our dealings.

Through the years ample proof has come to us of the reward for loving service and unselfish, honest effort. Also there has been the joy of doing good to others and of saying, where it has seemed wise, "a word in season to him that is weary" (Isa. 50:4).

I have proved the healing power of Christian Science in the remedying of an internal displacement when a doctor had said surgery was my only possible chance of relief. This healing came about gradually through the help of a consecrated Christian Science practitioner.

A severe gastric condition, which caused my weight to decrease below normal, was also healed through my radical reliance on Science. During this experience the constant turning to God and learning to rely on divine Mind, and not on my own human outlining, and the patient stilling of fear brought to me a very precious sense of the ever–presence of divine Love. Truly are we told in the epistle of James (4:8), "Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you."

Membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, class instruction, and the privilege of service in a branch church have brought many blessings to me in further unfoldment and deeper understanding of Jesus' words (Luke 22:42), "Not my will, but thine, be done."

For the revelation of Christian Science given to the world by our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, I am indeed deeply grateful.—(Mrs.) Rose. L. Rainer, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
